Activate this card by targeting 1 Effect Monster on the field; negate that face-up monster's effects, also that face-up monster cannot attack. When it is destroyed, destroy this card.

- Negates a monster's effect.
- Prevents a monster from attacking.
Cons
- Can clog your backrow.
- Stays on your field if the attached monster is removed from the field without getting destroyed.
Tips
Recycling
In case the monster Fiendish Chain is attached to leaves the field without getting destroyed, you can use these cards to get Fiendish Chain off the field and gain some extra use out of it.

Floodgate works on monsters that cannot be targeted -like Cocytus and Sabre Dancer-, Fiendish doesn't. So I doubt it takes Floodgate's place but almost as good as it

Not top tier, but still widely used: DM, Blue Eyes.
I don't know why you mentioned about normal monster, since Fiendish Chain cannot be used to them.

DM & BEWD are used by fanboys only. You need fiendish chain badly to stop Citree, 177 Merchant, Gozuki, Raikiri....

you dont need fienish floodgate stops most of it its just another abomination cards which doesnt let the opp play.at least you could attack fkn unfair board locker sh i t co c k card
Best trap card in the game along with Floodgate. Negating those broken monster effect is just too useful in the current meta.

every day that passes I feel like this cards is less good
This card is broken. My dragon spirit of white has stopped being treated as a blue eyes after fiendish chain is used on it. I could no longer synchro with dragon spirit of white, because the cards text of (this card is always treated as a blue eys monster) was treated as an effect instead of a statement of fact. Thus that "effect" was nullified by fiendish chain.

Yes, you have to distinguish between effects and Name conditions. And there are only very few cards that have a name condition:

(PS: This is similar to Archetype condition which are non-effects too)

Yeah, "changes own name" is not the same as "name condition". The former is an effect, the latter is not.
Here's a list of all cards that changes own name. For future reference, use Yugipedia, don't use Yugioh Fandom anymore.

Try selection box first (using gems only). If you can't get it, then switch to main box

Go for selection box all the way, because you can also obtain various cards other than this.

At least 2 things you need to consider before choosing.
- Selection box does not guaranteed getting this card.
- Other cards you need, is it in the selection box or the main box.
how come i can still use cosmo brain and dragon spirit of white's tribute effect when my opponent uses this card on them?

Because thr tribute is a cost, the effect comes after that.

In addition to that, Fiendish Chain negates the monster's effect on the field but not activation. Since the tribute is a cost, when Cosmo resolves it is no longer on the field, no longer affected by Fiendish Chain

Release this card in a mini box then limit 3 after 2 months.

If Konami added this card then Shadow Spell and Spellbinding Circle would be added. Because the effects is similar and this is most powerful version
